Payment Processing & Payout Policy

How TripFund handles Stripe payments, optional tips, group platform fees, and organization payouts.

Last updated:

Payments Processed by Stripe

TripFund uses Stripe to process donations, trip payments, optional tips, and group trip platform fees. Card details are handled by Stripe’s secure infrastructure. TripFund does not store full payment card numbers.

By paying through TripFund, you also agree to applicable Stripe terms and may receive receipts from Stripe or TripFund.

Who Covers Stripe Fees

For supported donation transactions on TripFund, TripFund covers standard Stripe card-processing fees so that organizations and fundraisers can receive 100% of the donation amount selected by the donor.

Optional tips to TripFund, group platform fees, and certain non-donation payments may be subject to Stripe fees as part of TripFund’s cost of processing. TripFund may update this approach with notice as described in our Terms.

Donations vs. Optional Tips

Checkout may show tip options such as 10%, 15% (recommended default), 20%, or a custom percentage. There is no “No Tip” shortcut; donors who prefer not to tip must choose Custom and enter 0%.

The donation line item goes to the fundraiser or organization. The tip line item, if any, supports TripFund. Organizations receive 100% of the donation amount on supported transactions.

Group Trip Platform Fee

For group trips, organizations get the first 10 travelers at no platform fee, then $5 per additional traveler withheld from that traveler's trip-payment transfer. Travelers are never shown a TripFund platform fee line item. Personal fundraising pages remain free.

Organization platform fees are separate from optional tips. Tips may still appear on donation and trip-payment checkouts.

Organization Payouts

Organizations receive funds according to Stripe’s payout schedule and the connected payout settings for their account or TripFund’s disbursement process for the product configuration in use.

Payout timing can vary based on account verification status, bank holidays, risk reviews, and Stripe’s policies. TripFund does not guarantee a specific bank-deposit day.

Organizations are responsible for providing accurate payout and tax information required to receive funds.

Trip Balance Payments

Participant deposits, installments, and balances paid toward a group trip are collected for the organizing organization according to the trip’s pricing settings. Refund and cancellation rules for those payments are set by the organization, as described in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Disputes and Chargebacks

If a donor or participant files a card dispute, Stripe and the card network’s processes apply. Organizations may be asked to provide evidence. Excessive disputes may result in account review or suspension.
